Easter - Happy thoughts on Easter fill our hearts with love. Thinking of the Savior, our risen Lord above. And we have hope for tomorrow and strength along the way; because Jesus is alive, and Easter is every day! GLORIOUS RESURRECTION!
EASTER CALVARY COVERS IT ALL ANOTHER CROSS
Easter is one of the most important Christian holidays of the year. It commemorates the event that is the keystone of Christian faith and hope. Easter celebrates the return to life of Jesus Christ after His crucifixion. Jesus' return to life is called resurrection. The Gospels tell of the morning when Jesus' tomb was found empty. Soon Jesus' followers began to see Him and talk with Him. Christians believe Jesus' resurrection means that they too, can receive new life after death. The Easter festival celebrates this belief in renewed life. Christians also believe Easter is a time of rescue. They believe by Jesus' death, He rescued them from eternal death and punishment for their sins. On Easter morning many churches hold special services, including sunrise services. Easter is also a favorite time for baptisms. Sadly, the meaning of Easter is often lost in thoughts of new suits and dresses, chocolate bunnies and baskets, and dyed eggs. But, let us always remember the true meaning of Easter, victory over death in the glorious resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Far dearer than all that the world can impart, was the message that came to my heart;
How that Jesus alone for my sin did atone, and Calvary covers it all.
The stripes that He bore and the thorns that He wore, told His mercy and love evermore;
And my heart bowed in shame as I call on His name, and Calvary covers it all.
How matchless the grace, when I looked in the face of this Jesus, my crucified Lord;
My redemption complete I then found at His feet, and Calvary covers it all.
How blessed the thought, that my soul by Him bought; shall be His in the glory on high;
Where with gladness and song I'll be one of the throng, and Calvary covers it all.
Calvary covers it all, my past with its sin and stain;
My guilt and despair Jesus took on Him there, and Calvary covers it all.
Upon the cruel cross vile sinners raised Him high,
They railed on Him and scoffed; they laughed and watched Him die.
But He was not alone, another cross I see,
Yes, in its shadow stands, a cross for you and me.
And so beneath His cross we, trembling, stand, and pray,
Along with those who stood and mourned Him on that day.
But listen, hear Him say so gently now to thee:
"Take up thy cross, my child, come now and follow me."
