How To Be a Witness For the Lord
Lesson 2
by Jennifer Price
How to testify to others about the gospel of Jesus Christ
How to tell others about God, Jesus Christ, the Bible, Devil, Hell and How to be a Christian.
Your Life Is A Witness - "Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God ... 11 Corinthians 3:2-3
Your life is the living Word of God that people will read first, before they ever read a Bible or listen to what you have to say about the Lord.
Your daily actions must be an example of what you believe. James 1:22-25
Your Technique is a Witness - Be wise as a serpent but harmless as doves in approaching people - Matthew 10:16
- Speak the truth in Love - Ephesians 4:15
Your words should be seasoned with grace - Colossians 4:6
Give people a reason for the hope that is in you in Christ - I Peter 3:15 • Do not badger a person to try and make them believe what you believe • Do not argue - 11 Timothy 2:23-24, Titus 3:9, James 3:13, 16, 17-18
Do not call a person stupid, or ridiculous for having a belief different from yours. Just share the Word of God simply and trust God's word to do the work God needs it to do, even if you never see the results. - Isaiah 55-11
Entreat the person as a brother or sister, reasoning with them
Defend the gospel like a lawyer pleading a case in a court room
Be patient in dealing with people you are witnessing to, sometimes they must hear the information more than once, and from more than the same person, before they can change from the beliefs they have had for numerous years. Remember that it also took time for you to believe. Titus 3:1-7
There is a proper time for witnessing to a person. Do not violate school, work or civil laws, and be led by the Spirit of God; He knows if the time is right such that the hearer will benefit by what you have to say. Rom 8:14, 13:1-7, Titus 3: 1, Eccl 3:1
Your Word of God is a Witness- Speak the Word of God and not your opinion - Matthew 16:16-18
It is okay to use your experience as an example, but do not promote your experiences as the foundation of your religious belief. The Word of God is the foundation of a Christian's belief and experiences just confirm that the Word of God is true. I Corinthians 2:1-5
Be ready to provide more than one scripture to explain a Bible principle; this is God's instruction Isaiah 28:9-10, 13; 11 Corinthians 13:1
Know what the Word of God says, or agree to find out what the Word of God says about a subject. Be honest about what you know or don't know and do not just make up something for the sake of winning an argument. See the handouts on what the Bible says about some common questions people have about the gospel.
Your Prayer is a Protection for your Witness- Pray Isaiah 54:17 over your life (No weapon formed against you shall prosper and every tongue that rises up against you, you shall condemn ... )
Pray Isaiah 55:1 1 over your testimony (God's spoken word from your mouth will not return to you void, but the hearers will be impacted by it whether you see it or not.)
Pray for God to cover you and the person you are speaking to, with the Blood of Jesus. This is so Satan will not take your words and use them to confuse or hurt you, and Satan will not use your words to confuse or hurt the person you're talking with. Revelation 12:9-11
