Father's Day

A FAITHFUL FATHER
A Faithful Father is a guide
Who always walks along beside
And helps his children, day by day
Along life's straight and narrow way.
He does not speak too much of wrong
But for the right is always strong.
And with a cheerful word and smile
He teaches them the things worthwhile.
He has no reason to complain
Because at home they don't remain.
He is their pal, so they are there
An hour of fun with him to share.
And when it's time for family hour,
His prayers of faith have mighty power.
For Faithful Fathers prove that above,
There's always a Heavenly Father's love.

DAD
I saw them walking hand in hand; the father and his lad.
I watched him as he spoke to you, I heard him call you dad.
And oh, the pride he put within that dear familiar word,
I wondered if you caught it too, I wondered if you heard.
Oh, you who have a son to whom you're the best dad of all,
Who copies everything you do; don't let his ideals fall.
Oh, pray the Lord to make you wise, to give you eyes to see;
Why little boys will always say, "Like dad I want to be."
Oh, look around you everywhere, there's many a grown-up lad
Whose voice no longer holds that ring of pride when calling dad.
Within your care God placed His trust, then mold with Him this clay;
And keep alive that glowing torch he holds for you today.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY, MOTHER
I wish I might, I wish I may,
Wish some very special Mothers a Happy Father's Day.
Mothers who are rearing their children alone,
I pray for these Mothers for the courage they've shown.
When Fathers are gone for one reason or another,
All responsibilities have fallen on Mother.
Rearing children is not an easy thing to do;
A Mother needs strength, guidance, and a helping hand too.
She calls on the Heavenly Father to make her job less hard,
He answers, "Bring up your children in the House of the Lord,
Teach them and show them how to live in a Godly way;
And Mother, I'll be your strength and helping hand
As you're honored on Father's Day."

(poem written by church member Jackie Alston)

FOLLOWER
A careful man I ought to be; a little fellow follows me.
I do not dare to go astray, for fear he'll go the selfsame way.
Not once can I escape his eyes; whatever he sees me do, he tries.
Like me he says he's going to be, that little chap who follows me.
I must remember as I go; through summer sun and winter snow,
I'm molding for the years to be-
That little chap who follows me.

IS THIS YOU?
This is a man who puts his family first;
A man who lets his children see his love and hear his pride....
This is a friend to count on and believe in, to listen and learn from..
This is a Father to look up to and live up to every day of your life...
This is a Man, this a Friend, this is a Father......
Is this You?

LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON
Of all the old sayings, I think of this one
For Fathers to ponder, "Like Father, Like Son."
And it really is true, and quite often you'll see
A boy like his Father will turn out to be.
May it be a challenge to each Father here,
Who possesses a son and holds that son dear;
Do live for the Savior, a life that is true,
For someday your son might be just like you.

FATHER
A father doesn't push, he leads.
A father doesn't dictate, he guides
A father doesn't need to preach, his life is his sermon.
A father doesn't criticize the bad in his children; he encourages the good.
A father doesn't seek respect, he earns it.
A father doesn't ask for love- he's rewarded it.
A father doesn't bargain his children's welfare, he provides it.
A father doesn't worry about tomorrow- he trusts God for it.
